Regine Serra and Thierry Liu have kindly accepted to come to our campus next Thursday, March 18th so as to give you information on the next steps to be taken for your registration at your 3rd year universities.

We are going to organise the following:

 

Students meeting Regine Serra:

• For the students going to Japan:

we will plan a lunch meeting, in room 1, from 12.20 to 13.00. You have priority because of the delays given by Japanese universities.

• For the students going to Korea and India, and who have the seminar at 13.15:

             from 13.00 to 13.15 in room 1

• For the students going to Korea and India, and who do not have classes during the afternoon:

            From 13.15 to 13.45 in room 1.

Les étudiants du Havre, comme tous les ans depuis l’implantation du campus Europe-Asie de Sciences Po au Havre en 2007, participent à cet événement et s’investissent au coté de la chambre du Commerce et d’industrie du Havre dans le but de promouvoir d’une part, les cursus universitaire de Sciences Po, et d’autre part les enseignements et les activités dispensés au college universitaire du Havre auprès des différentes populations estudiantines du Havre et de ses environs.

Conference du Professeur Matsumoto, Université de Waseda

Professor Matsumoto, Waseda University: "Tocqueville's Theory of War and the Army and Its Applicability to the Contemporary World"

 

In this presentation, Professor Matsumoto will first show the basic points of Tocqueville’s argument about war and the army in the age of democracy, which he developed in the last several chapters of the 3rd part of the Second Democracy (1840), and, then,  will expand its theoretical applicability to the non-Western world, including Japan and East Asian countries.

L'équipe SciencesPo de football a participé aux phases de poules du championnat interrégional de futsal grâce à son affiliation au Comité du Sport Régional de Haute Normandie. Jordan Bégny, Tom Doron, Rémy Koy, Romain Cuchet, Patrick Chen, et Steve Kim ont donné le meilleur d'eux-même afin de défendre les couleurs du campus à Rouen où ont eu lieu les rencontres. Voici quelques photos donnant un petit aperçu du cadre et de l'ambiance! Un grand merci à tous les participants pour leur motivation et implication .

Dans le cadre des « journées de l’excellence et de la réussite », le campus du Havre du collège universitaire de Sciences Po Paris a le plaisir d’ouvrir ses portes au public. Les étudiants, le corps professoral et la direction seront heureux de répondre à vos questions concernant les études à Sciences Po. Une réunion générale de présentation est organisée à 11h dans l’amphithéâtre Europe. Si vous souhaitez participer à cette journée, merci de nous informer de votre présence.

La grande fête de Sciences Po

 

  FETE. Sportifs ou artistes, les étudiants ont fait leur show.

 

 

 

  A Sciences Po (Campus du Havre), on travaille beaucoup mais on sait aussi s'amuser. Pour fêter la fin du semestre et de l'année, les locaux du Centre de commerce international se sont ainsi animés autour d'un généreux buffet. Au nom de la municipalité, Brigitte Dufour a tenu à marquer son intérêt pour ce sympathique événement.
Les étudiants, souvent impliqués dans des associations sportives et culturelles, se sont révélés excellents comédiens, musiciens ou chanteurs. Les danseuses Bollywood ont été fort remarquées !
Le directeur, Thierry Schwarz, père Noël d'un soir, les professeurs et les représentants administratifs se sont vus remettre de petits cadeaux attestant de la qualité des liens établis en peu de temps.
Précieux et discrets, les membres de l'association Sciences Po Welcome étaient de la fête. Par l'accueil qu'elles réservent ponctuellement à des étudiants souvent venus de l'autre bout du monde, ces familles havraises assurent un rôle humain majeur pour le bien-être des jeunes.

This year’s workshops, taught by Professors Yuichi Hosoya (Associate Professor of International Politics, Faculty of Law, Keio University) and Jean-Paul Barbiche (Honorary dean of the International affairs faculty of the Havre University), will be centred on the topics of International Politics and Asian Diasporas. The workshops are organised around two days of intensive courses.

Jean-Luc Domenach, directeur de recherche et directeur du Programme Asie du Master de politique comparée de Sciences Po Paris, donnera une conférence sur le thème « Etudier l’Asie pour comprendre l’Europe ; étudier l’Europe pour comprendre l’Asie », à 18h30, en salle Europe.

 

La conférence sera suivie d’un buffet partagé avec les familles de l’association Sciences Po Welcome.

English Debating Society

The Sciences Po EDS won two prizes at the Bonn IV: Zuheir, representing Angola, was the best delegate in the United Nations Environment Program, and Eugene, representing Japan, got an honorary mention in the Security Council.

At the Paris Centrale IV, both judges (Tina and Celine) managed to make it to the semi-finals in the adjudicator competition (which is practically the highest accolade for judges anyway since the finals are reserved for a panel
comprising certain judges only).

S.P.E.A.C  (Sciences-Po Europe-Asia Conference)

 

Débutera en Avril 2010

 

Sciences-Po Europe-Asia Conference, SPEAC, was initiated two years ago in order to bring together students from all over the world, particularly from Europe and Asia, through an engaging week-long conference and cultural exchange. SPEAC was also intended to allow students from all over the world to get a taste of studying in France, and in particular, the renowned SciencesPo methodology and curriculum that has produced many of Europe’s leaders in both the public and private sectors. Today, after two successful conferences, this year’s organising committee will involve the participants in various cultural and artistic activities in order to give them an intellectually stimulating as well as culturally rewarding experience.

Intercultural Exchange Programme

 

Du 11 au 13 décembre 2009

 

Inauguration du Programme d’échange interculturel, conjointement organisé par le BDA du campus du Havre et l’association Asie-Extrême du campus de Paris. Ce programme permettra aux étudiants asiatiques et aux étudiants préparant leur séjour de 3° année dans cette région du monde, de cultiver l’internationalité de Sciences Po et d’établir un véritable échange linguistique et culturel. Quarante étudiants participent à ce programme, qui, après son lancement sur les terres du programme Europe-Asie du Havre, connaîtra sa deuxième édition à Paris, en février 2010.

Conference on the Lisbon Treaty

 

Friday the 11th of December

 

Organised by the members of the association “Jeunes Européens” of the Havre campus.

 

On Friday the 11th of December, Sciences Po Le Havre will be hosting a debate concerning the consequences on the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty on the European Union. The conference will start at 5:30 pm and will be animated by Armelle Renaud Couteau, Professor at the University of Le Havre as well as Paul von Mühlendahl, Professor of Law at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris. This conference will be followed by a small buffet during which members of the audience will get the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on specific issues with the participants.

 

China Europa. Cycle Sustainable Urban development

From December 8th to 10th

From December 8th to 10th 2009, a group of students from the campus in Le Havre will have a permanent stand in the Conference premises, so as to represent Sciences Po’s Europe Asia programme.
Students will  get opportunities to meet companies as well as public or private organisations involved in the Europe-China  relationships.
 
While China, with the support of its Ministry of Commerce and the new Ministry of Environment, pursues a dual goal of increasing both its imports from Europe and its efforts in Sustainable Urban Development, China Europa 2009 intends, now more than ever, to offer Chinese and European companies a unique opportunity to do business and create partnerships. As a pragmatic development tool for international exchanges, China Europa 2009 is structured around three main business events, guaranteed to provide quantifiable, qualified and pertinent results: An exhibition, a business convention, Conferences and practical workshops led by major Chinese and European experts in Sustainable Urban Development networks to present the latest events and development perspectives in Europe and in China.

Conference : Chinese footprints in Africa

Monday December 7th

Solange Chatelard, Phd students in Sciences Po’s comparative politics department, will give a conference on “Chinese footprints in Africa”, on Monday December 7th, in Salle Afrique at 19h45.
 
The acceleration and diversification of China’s relations with Africa in recent years has met renewed interest by policy makers, journalists and academic observers alike. Although analysis and commentary abound about Chinese intervention in Africa, there is only very little empirical research on Chinese communities conducted on the African continent. Addressing this lacuna, this conference gives an ethnographic account of the first Chinese migrants to arrive and settle in Zambia in the early 1990s based on five months of fieldwork conducted among the nascent Chinese community across the country.

 

École Centrale de Paris IV

 

On the weekend of Dec. 4-5

 

A delegation of 8 students from the English Debating Society (EDS) of our Sciences Po Le Havre campus participated in the British Parliamentary Style Debating Tournament organised by the École Centrale de Paris. Within the most international atmosphere with participants from countries as diverse as Germany, Turkey, Israel, Italy or the Netherlands, and after 5 intense rounds, our 3 debating teams managed to get very high ranks on the Speakers ranking and our 2 judges even broke to the semi-finals! The finals and closing ceremony took place at the exceptional Parisian building of La Maison des Centraliens, on the Champs Élysées, were this smily group picture was taken.

 

ASEM, jour par jour: les journaux quotidiens de l’ASEM

 

Comme il est d’habitude dans la plupart des simulations politiques, il y a deux équipes de presse concurrentes pendant la conférence. Ces deux équipes (chacune composés de deux étudiants du Havre), l’une un journal conservateur, l’autre un journal plus libéral, suivent la conférence et publient un quotidien qui est distribué chaque jour aux participants. Ces journaux relatent les événements du jour, les thèmes débattus, les commérages et les opinions extérieures sur les sujets.
